Emotional energy release or emotional clearing, as it is sometimes known, is a natural process that is designed to help us to heal and become whole again.  This means that it is an integrated part of who we are as a person.  Processing our emotions is a part of our design and our 'true self'.  Emotional release is something that is inherent to humans and animals alike, and is a biological function that should come naturally to all of us.  However, this is not the case at all, and NOT being able to process or release emotions, thoughts and feelings can be a great source of discomfort and anguish for many of us.   

 

Instead of being able to naturally let go, we naturally store negative energy, emotions, trauma or experiences within us.  Left alone and with nowhere to go, our unprocessed emotions stay trapped in our body, where they fester and grow, sapping our energy, and resulting in burnout, emotional imbalance and dis-ease. When we chronically repress emotions, we create toxicity in our body, mind, and heart.  This unprocessed emotional energy is stored in our organs, muscles, and tissues.  It leads to inflammation and chronic health problems, and it undermines our overall well-being.

At no point have you made a conscious choice to sabotage yourself or your life, this is the work of your subconscious mind. On a conscious level, limiting behaviours, thoughts and believes will trigger trapped emotions and associated feelings of insecurity, low self worth, indecisiveness and unworthiness.  These feelings are so uncomfortable, they keep you stuck in your place of knowing and safety, so you never get to experience life outside of your comfort zone.  Your natural ability to make rational decisions is compromised due to trapped emotions.  This also becomes an issue for you, which is why the opportunity to process and release trapped emotions or emotional pain is so important for your mental and physical well-being. 

 

It is also vital to our conscious and spiritual growth.  Without being able to express our stuck emotions in some way,  without some sort of emotional release intervention, we become destined to live our life in fear, constantly feeling stuck, and controlled by our own emotions.  As I mentioned before, facing ones emotions and releasing them can be very difficult, especially if they are deep rooted and evoke painful memories.  Emotional release can heal the core issues that keep us stuck in negative thinking, repeating old behaviour patterns and experiences, as well as any negative self-talk that prevents us from moving forward and growing on a conscious and spiritual level. 

Keeping a lid on your emotions when you are constantly stressed, anxious or overwhelmed is exhausting. Stopping your negative feelings from coming to the surface and running away with you can be mentally and physically draining, and can have a serious impact on your overall wellbeing. We know now that our emotions have a direct link to our mind-body and can bring on additional mental and physical symptoms. You might have convinced yourself that you are 'ok' and have what's called a 'stoic attitude' about your life experiences or towards how you really feel and it may seem the easier option to avoid, suppress and just ignore these negative issues, because the idea of dealing with them is to painful.

If you feel your thoughts, feelings and emotions have moulded you so much and for so long that you will 'always' be this way, let me assure you that is does not have to be this way and it is never to late to choose happiness and emotional freedom. Part of this beautiful process of healing is understanding your own belief systems, why and where they came from, and an awareness that much of your behaviour patterns are simply a natural biological programme, that was set in motion at a time when you needed it.  These can be rewritten and it is never to late to do that.  What's more is that you deserve to live life without these restraints and with the advancement of modern self-healing techniques, the right support available to you, there has never been a better opportunity then now.

In the same way our clothes, shoes and looks fall out of fashion, so do our thoughts, feelings, behaviours and reactions. This is our 'mindset' and it is just as prone to becoming out of date and out of fashion as any skirt, hairstyle or handbag!  When our shoes becomes worn, we replace them, when we feel like a change of style, we can re-invent how we look.  We even change our home environment and surroundings so that we feel more comfortable and enjoy a fresh new look.  We may look great on the outside, but we may not feel so great on the inside.  Negative past experiences, emotional conflicts, difficult life events, trauma or any form of pain and suffering often create negative thoughts, feelings and beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. While at the time, they may have served the right purpose, there is typically a backlash that throws us into conflict with ourselves or someone else, that far out dates the the actual event and stays with us long into the future.  Eventually. this becomes the old emotional data, the out of fashion way of thinking (mindset) that keeps us 'stuck' in the past and does not reflect where we are on the fashion runway of life!  

For us to feel better is the only reason any one of us does anything. It is the route of all desire. We invest time, money and effort into changing and updating everything about ourselves on the outside, in order to feel better, but what about updating ourselves on the inside?  What about updating our mind to match our wardrobe!   

The ability to process emotions is a natural gift we have as children that allows us to free ourselves of the negative energy that stays within our body.  As we mature to adulthood, we grow out of this important coping strategy, and learn to suppress our emotions instead of freeing them.  Somehow, we decide it feels safer and less painful to ignore them, rather then explore them.  In doing so, we are ignoring the important messages and lessons that our emotions are trying to show us.  Our emotions are natural built in gifts, but most of us hide them on a regular basis. 

 

We bury, avoid, and deny uncomfortable and painful emotions, purely as a means of self-preservation and protection.  This is especially true when we have negative emotions such as shame, guilt, fear, or anger. We hide our emotional responses deep inside us, where others can’t see them, and where we think they will do us no harm.  Over time, emotions continue to build up inside, causing much more harm on a mental, physical (symptoms, illness and disease in the body) and spiritual level, then if they were to be processed and released.
