Intense Emotions due to Spiritual Awakening
The term spiritual awakening might be new to you so let me tell you a bit about it and how it effects our emotions. A spiritual awakening is a very personal experience and is different for each individual. The transition is well known for the intense emotional and physical symptoms that it brings with it. As turbulent as the journey is, it is in fact the process of shift to higher consciousness and expanded awareness. Basically, when we go through a spiritual awakening we are arriving at a point in time when we finally recognise our 'true self' and our life purpose.
The is known to be a turbulent time because it creates intense shifts through our whole being. The awakening process itself is when we shed much of our old self, along with our negative beliefs, fears, emotions and behaviour patterns, in order to re-connect with our higher consciousness, our intuitive gifts and our 'soul' purpose. When this happens it can feel very emotionally uncomfortable and there will be many who will decide they are not ready for this shift and will feel the need to push against it, in order to stay in their comfort zone. If you do decide to embrace it or feel you are being swept along by it regardless, it is worth remembering to to be kind to yourself, allow the process to unfold, do not try to work against it, but work with it as best as you can.
Why do we have a Spiritual Awakening
Intuitive gifts and psychic abilities are inherent in all of us and are an important part of our human blueprint. They are a connection to spirit and a tool to help us receive guidance and support from our higher self while in human form. As children, we use it, accept it, and trust it, without even knowing what it is, so we are naturally a lot closer to spirit and our higher self at that age. As we get older and become influenced by society, life lessons, experiences and perceptions, we are ‘grown out’ of this innate and natural ability to the point where we forget we ever had it in the first place. In adult life, we tend to overlook our souls own natural abilities.
Spiritual Awakening Triggers
Spiritual awakening occurs for many reasons. Much of the time it happens because it's 'your time to awaken', but it can also occur due to other reasons such as prolonged stress, anxiety, midlife crisis, or overwhelm etc. A spiritual awakening can also be triggered by any emotional or physical trauma we experience, such as illness or disease, surgery, shocking news, major accidents, a threat to our own life or that of family members. If we experience any sort of paranormal occurrence, or something happens that we simply cannot comprehend or explain away, we can go on to have a spiritual awakening.
It is important for us to remember we are spiritual souls in human form and we are here to learn and grow, in order to raise our vibrations and ascend to the next level of consciousness. Awakening is the first step on your guided path towards fully remembering yourself as a spiritual being and understanding your life purpose. Spiritual awakening helps us shed our old self in order to make way for our 'true' self, helping us to see who we really are, and what is really true.
Signs & Symptoms of Spiritual Awakening
There is nothing sequential about a spiritual awakening, nor is there a time limit. This means that you may find yourself moving back and forth between any stage at any given time, which can make the journey feel that much longer. Just know that everything is unfolding for you as it should. Below are small selection of examples of common Spiritual Awakening signs and symptoms. Please be aware that everyone's journey is unique, as are the symptoms. I offer spiritual awakening guidance and chat sessions so that your own experience can be discussed in more detail.

The beginning of awakening is known as The Dark Night of the Soul. Things can get pretty intense and overwhelming during this time, and we can feel the worst we have ever felt. We have feelings of general confusion, isolation, meaninglessness, alienation and symptoms that are similar to that of depression. We feel empty inside, disconnected from family and friends, as if nothing makes sense any more, and there seems to be no purpose to anything.
Not to be confused with a Spiritual Awakening, but often part of the process, is a psychic awakening. This has more to do with the activation of the pineal gland, which is a tiny gland located at the centre of the brain. Often known as the third eye, the pineal gland once activated, opens a gateway that connects us to other spiritual dimensions outside of our own.
Given that many people find psychic topics and paranormal experiences uncomfortable, the sudden onset of psychic awareness and the connection to other dimensions requires a new way of thinking and some self healing in order to integrate them into your life. Even more so if, as part of your spiritual awakening, your hidden gifts are very strong, because the experience can be very overwhelming and some focus is needed in order to manage them effectively so that you are more comfortable with them.
Our psychic abilities are gifted to us at birth, as tools to help us expand our life experience and raise our conscious awareness by connecting us to our higher self and to the spirit realms. It's good to keep this in mind and learn to embrace this transition, as by doing so, you can go on to experience profound healing and wonderful changes within yourself and see the world around you in a fresh and enlightened way.

Just like learning to use your legs to walk, so can you learn to use your third eye to connect and reach beyond the 3D world that you know. You are seeing everything in your life from a new perspective and this often includes the abilities of clairaudience (clear hearing) clairvoyance (clear vision) clairsentience (clear sensing-feeling) or other psychic gifts. The third eye is one of our energy centers (chakras) and is activated during a spiritual awakening along with the other energy centers in the body. Because of this, the two awakenings are often mistaken for each other.
Being intuitively or psychically gifted does not make us more awakened or more spiritual then another. We are all gifted, but at different levels depending on where we are on our journey. Whats important is your relationship with your gifts and your acceptance of them. Even if you have not started on your spiritual awakening journey, your psychic journey may still be unfolding. The onset of a spiritual awakening will basically accelerate these gifts at a much faster rate then if they were to unfold on their own.
