Spiritual Running


A spiritual awakening isn’t the best feeling in the world due to the intense feelings and thoughts it brings, as well as the physical and emotional pain. We feel frustrated, misunderstood, and disconnected from those closest to us. What we feel like doing as a way out, is to pack our bags ( physically and metaphorically ) and run away from everything and everyone.

5 THINGS WE WANT TO RUN AWAY FROM DURING A SPIRITUAL AWAKENING.


1: FEARS

A Spiritual awakening pushes us out of our comfort zone and nudges us towards facing our fears and insecurities. The very idea of exploring the things that you have kept in the dark, in order to keep yourself safe, creates more fear,


The time when you want to pack your emotional bags and run, is the time when you must find ways to stand your ground. This transition is an opportunity to learn from your fears and let them go. How you navigate this part of your awakening will reflect how your life unfolds going forward. Every fear you have is limiting your souls growth, and preventing you from living a positive life.



2: SHADOW SELF

The person we hide our true thoughts and feelings from the most is our own self. We struggle to take ownership of our flaws, our limiting behaviours, our lies, and our mistakes. These are the things that we keep hidden in our shadow self. We run away from our shadow self because it stores any shame, guilt or regret caused by our own selfish or wrongful actions.

During your spiritual awakening, your shadow self will stalk you, because it seeks to be acknowledged and wants you to recognise it is part of you as a whole being. When you are able to embrace your shadow self, you will be closer to your true self and you will change your life for the better.


Even this step can be tricky, because we can experience feelings of regret and guilt, over time wasted, and that realisation that we have been living a falsehood up to this point. It's worth remembering that most Spiritual Awakenings occur for each individual at the right time.


3: FORGIVING YOURSELF

As I mentioned above about our shadow self, we have many feelings attached to things we did in our lives that may be deemed as bad, immoral, mean or hurtful. We might also have a lot of trapped anger, over something that a person may have done to us long in the past or even recently.

During your Spiritual Awakening, all of these things will be explored, acknowledged and viewed from a new perspective, and this will be for your own soul growth and enlightenment. Ultimately, the learning from this is one of self forgiveness (no matter what) and forgiveness of others, not for them, but for your own benefit and wellbeing.


There is a saying by Buddha that goes "Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die".


Being able to forgive yourself makes it easier to forgive others, because you see humans as exactly that, and that humans are not perfect by any means.


4: EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE

We pick up emotional baggage from an early age, and we carry it with us. We don't really know what to do with them, so we just do our best to forget them. We say "i'm fine", "i'm ok" "it's nothing"' or "It is what it is".

We don't want to 'open that can of worms', but in truth the can is already open, because our emotional baggage creates repeated negative experiences. Instead of running forward, we need to find our way back. Spiritually awakened people do spend time in the past, but only enough to find out what is no longer serving them. Once they are done, they return to the present moment, without looking back.

5: FEELING CONFUSED

A Spiritual Awakening pulls you out of your comfort zone. It wants you to break free, let go and reach higher levels of consciousness. A Spiritual Awakening wants you to be all that you can be and more. This is a journey that happens standing still. You will feel lost, exposed and vulnerable many times, but when you arrive at the other side of it, you will understand just how far you have come. So, resist the urge to pack your bags and run away, allow yourself all the time you need, ask for support and seek knowledge from like minded souls or teachers, practice self care and self love. Overcome your fears to feel contented, motivated and confident. Let the universe help guide you, and know that you will be ok
